The Scientific Stuff

OK so let's get the scientific stuff out of the way first.

Subjected to bad weather and pollution, exposed to the sun's rays, worn down by the adverse treatment inflicted by tabacco and hormonal variations, and subject to the classic effects of aging, your skin finds its content of hyaluronic acid (one of the main components of the dermis) becoming scarcer as time passes. The skin on your face, your neck, your décolletage and your hands is drying out, becoming dull and as a result is more susceptible to the appearance of wrinkles and lines. The hydration of your skin is one of the essential factors of your well-being and your beauty. Many creams and other products for external application are offered, but their results are short-term and often not very noticeable.

The Good Stuff

OK let's skip now to the good stuff.

Superficial micro-injections of hyaluronic acid into the skin make it possible to rehydrate the skin deeply and thus to benefit from durable effects in terms of rejuvenation of the face or of other parts of the body. The nourished and repaired skin regains its former radiance, its tone and its elasticity. The injections are composed of non-animal based hyaluronic acid (to minimise the risk of allergy). Thus, it is safe, perfectly biocompatible and integrally biodegradable. In addition, it can be injected in the face in a 'threading' process, which can generate a subtle lift to the lower face and over time (on completion of the course of treatments) help to reduce jowling.

What You Need To Know

Yes this treatment involves to use of several superficial injections in the skin 1-2cm apart. Each session takes approximately 45 minutes (usually for one area eg décolletage). It is advisable to attend the clinic 60 minutes before the treatment so that an anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area to minimise any discomfort during the treatment. After the treatment, ice will be applied and the area will be massaged firmly with a greasy moisturiser. Most patients look 'puffy' in the treated area immediately after. This lasts for 24-48 hours. It is usually mild and only noticeable to the patient or friends who know them well. Bruising at the site of injection is also possible and clears completely in 1-10 days. A light liquid or mineral-based makeup can be worn immediately after the treatment if necessary.

What I Need To Tell You

It is common when treating the neck or décolletage to see small 'bumps' on the skin surface (like small mosquito bites), which completely disappear over the next 2-5 days. You MUST massage the area 2 x daily for 5 minutes for 5 days after the treatment.

You will notice a distinct improvement in your skin texture from the first session. However, to guarantee long lasting results and a high level of satisfaction, you should repeat the treatment 2-3 times per year where possible depending on your age and the condition of your skin when you start the treatments. Afterall, we are aging every year and the the purpose of this treatment is to counteract the visible signs of that ongoing aging process. The treatments will become less frequent after the first 1-2 years, especially if combined with other anti-aging treatments. It is true that hydration of your skin will, as the sessions progress, 'tighten' the skin helping to erase the surface micro-lines and smoothing away that look of 'crumpled' skin. However, already distinct wrinkles and deep lines on the face or neck may need an additional treatment with a dermal filler. Furthermore, Hydrating Textural Treatments are a great way to prolong the results seen from dermal filler injections, especially filler treatments for fine wrinkles around the mouth, lips and cheeks. the Hydrating Textural Injections help to 'seal in' the dermal filler making it and it's affects last longer.

Additional treatments with Collagen Stimulating Injections on the face or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) may be advised depending on the extent of the sun-damage and wrinkling on the skin. To ensure the best results and reduce any possible complications from these injections it is important that you follow the aftercare instructions given to you by your cosmetic practitioner.
