The Scientific Stuff
The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat, fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.
By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin's surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness. Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness, not discrete, well-defined vessels. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and it can be hereditary. Laser Genesis will help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.
The Good Stuff
Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative, technologically advanced way to promote vibrant and healthy looking skin in men and women of all ages and all skin types. It is an excellent treatment for pigmentation problems on darker skin types even African American skins that are not able to be treated with usual technologies such as IPL. Now you can have a youthful appearance by treating those conditions that are typically associated with premature signs of aging and sun damage, such as excessive redness, large pores, uneven texture, and fine-line wrinkles. The Laser Genesis procedure has also been scientifically proven to produce new collagen.
Laser Genesis patients report excellent results over their entire faces and necks. Additionally, practitioners may suggest this therapy to diminish recent scars on other parts of the body.
What you need to know
You will not need gel, anesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment. Before the actual Laser Genesis treatment, you will be asked to remove your make-up or moisturizers and, in some cases, you may be asked to shave the area to be treated. Your cosmetic practitioner will review and assist with all pre-treatment requirements.
Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin's surface during the procedure as the laser handpiece is moved back and forth about 1/2 inch above your skin. You can immediately return to normal activities, utilizing sunscreen if participating in outdoor activities
What I need to tell you
The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient's condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your cosmetic practitioner. Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. You must not have this treatment within 3 weeks of having a spray tan or if you have any recent excess sun exposure with tanning (eg went for walk on same day without sunscreen, just got back from holiday in the sun). You must not have any moisturizer or sunscreen or makeup on the skin to be treated. All makeup, moisturizers and sunscreens will be thoroughly removed before the treatment.
What kind of textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?
Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore the skin's youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more even, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
How can I maintain the results?
You should avoid sun exposure and solarium treatments for at least 2 weeks after the Laser Genesis treatment because the area treated may be more prone to burning and increased pigmentation during this period. Apply a 30+ sunblock frequently and daily for 1-2 weeks after treatment. It is important to realise that the poor condition of your skin is related to sun-damage and if you continue to expose your skin to sunlight the problems treated will recur.
It may be beneficial to have additional treatments that compliment your Laser Genesis therapy. These can include IPL treatments, Nd Yag Vascular Laser treatments, Skin Dermal Needling, Microdermabrasion treatments and/or Facial Peels.
It is important to maintain a good skincare routine with frequent hydration and/or moisturisation on a daily basis (use a hydrating gel eg ASAP Soothing Gel and/or a moisturiser eg ASAP moisturiser/30+ sunscreen). However, you should avoid using any skincare that contains AHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or Retinoic Acid (eg Retin A) for 24 hours. After this time. It is important to gently exfoliate the areas treated. Your cosmetic practitioner will be happy to advise a skin-care routine that best suits your particular skin type or problem.
To ensure the best results and reduce any possible complications from this treatment it is important that you follow the aftercare instructions given to you by your cosmetic practitioner.
