Natural aging is affected by external factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, general health and sun exposure but there are also important internal factors that impact on the natural aging process. These internal factors relate to the presence of certain substances within the skin or structures in the body. The 3 important substances that give an appearance of youthfulness are Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin and Collagen. The 2 important structures that give an appearance of youthfulness are the collections of fat underneath the skin and the strong supportive bony skeleton that lies underneath the fat.
When we are younger, we have an abundance of the substances in our skin and a strong supportive effect from the structures underneath the skin – this keeps the skin smooth, hydrated, plump and ‘lifted’ with ability to ‘spring back’ to its original appearance after movement. However, these substances and structures are being naturally broken down as we age and the speed that they are broken down is impacted upon by the external factors listed above. Combine this degradation of essential anti-aging substances with the failure for our body to reform these substances together with the loss of fat and bone and we see wrinkles and grooves forming on the face with a ‘downward’ sliding of skin and the development of ‘loose sagging’ skin with sunken areas and a flatness to the cheeks.
Hyaluronic acid can be replaced by Hydrating Skin Boosters, Dermal and Contouring Fillers. Elastin can be stimulated by Skin Tightening, Dermapen Needling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). These treatments are often all that is required to treat a concern but the treatments will need to be repeated and in the case of Dermal and Contouring Fillers the repeat treatments are quite frequent as the injected products are metabolised away over a period of a few months. Dermapen and PRP will also stimulate collagen but the effect is a more generalised one leading to a fresh smoother looking skin. To stimulate collagen deep within the skin or near the bony areas of the face, an injectable collagen stimulator is needed and long lasting dual action fillers are unique as they have both a dermal filling effect AND a collagen stimulating effect. The gel in the product creates an initial ‘filling’ effect like hyaluronic dermal or contour fillers would do but the additional collagen stimulator in the product creates a longer lasting ‘filling’ or ‘volumising’ effect which means that the treatment doesn’t need to be repeated as frequently.
Areas commonly injected with a long lasting dual action filler include:
This is a unique innovative filler that is made up of soft smooth balls of collagen stimulating product suspended in a gel. These 2 components have been used in medicine for more than 20 years in medical devices such as sutures and dental implants. This long lasting dual action filler addresses your needs for durability, greater value and an aesthetically pleasing result.
It is the next generation of filler which gives you natural and beautiful longer-lasting, but non-permanent results. It is a collagen stimulator which can last for up to 18 months in some cases, which has been specifically designed to stimulate your own new collagen to give you the desired, sustained and natural looking appearance.
Once injected, the results are immediate and these results last throughout the chosen period of longevity. As it is totally biodegradable, it will be replaced by the body’s own tissue over time and be naturally resorbed by the body. It can be injected into the skin to fill out wrinkles & deep skin folds, correct the contour of jawline, correct lower cheek hollows or chin creases, rejuvenate and plump the backs of the hands and enhance the size of the cheeks. It cannot be injected in the lips or around the eyes.
This long lasting dual action filler is totally synthetic, which means you can get treated immediately without any allergy test prior to the treatment. The amount of product required will depend upon your own expectations and the area to be treated but the product is packaged in 1ml quantities.
It is important to remember that the collagen stimulating component (that part of the product that will ‘fill’ or ‘volumise’ the area for a long period of time) is suspended in a gel and it is the gel that gives an immediately look of fullness in the area injected. However, the gel will break down and disappear within the first 2 weeks after the treatment. At that time the area may look not as full as it did after the treatment or may even look the same as it did before the treatment. Don’t worry, this is exactly how the product is supposed to work.
At 6-8 weeks after the treatment, the collagen stimulating effect of the product will start to occur. New collagen strands will form and become organized to recreate the fullness that was seen immediately after the injections were done. No further injections of this product will be done before 4 – 6 weeks to avoid the risk of ‘overcorrecting’ and ‘over stimulating’ collagen within the area. Other temporary dermal fillers can be injected if you have a special event or particular need to ‘see a difference’ quickly but this product is for a ‘long term’ effect not a short term correction.
At 4 – 6 weeks further product may be injected but the quantity should be kept to a minimum because the peak collagen stimulation will probably occur from 6-9 months after the treatment. The final effects of the treatment can last for up to 18 months in some cases. Duration of effect varies from patient to patient and is dependent upon the area treated, quality of skin, volume injected and age of the client. On average, the product itself will be completely metabolised by the body within 12 months, however, collagen stimulation will continue beyond this point.
